Yasmin Abusayma is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of American Studies, College of Liberal Arts, at the University of Minnesota. Originally from Gaza, Palestine, she earned an M.A. in Genocide Studies from Stockton University, USA, after completing a bachelor's degree in English Teaching Methods at Al-Azhar University, Gaza. Her research examines settler colonialism, genocide, media, education, and digital counter-archives, with a particular focus on Palestine and Indigenous North America. Before beginning her doctoral studies, she worked as a freelance educator, researcher, translator, and contributing writer for The Electronic Intifada and Mondoweiss. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary approaches that bring together American Studies, Indigenous Studies, critical genocide studies, media studies, and decolonial scholarship to examine knowledge production, memory, and resistance in settler colonial contexts.
