Snigdha is from New Delhi, India. As a rogue economist turned sociologist, Snigdha's research explores the political economy of industrial transformation in the face of technological change. She explores this phenomenon through a case study of how India's banking industry is striving to transform into a data-driven digital platform industry, and the role of the state and non-state institutions therein. Broadly, Snigdha is interested in the relationship between state and capital, how market solutions to poverty evolve, how these solutions take life in countries of the global south, and how state and capital are reconstituted in the age of the digital platform. Before coming to the US, Snigdha completed a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Economics, and an MPhil in Sociology from the National University of Singapore, the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, and the University of Delhi, India respectively.
