ICGC, in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Research, supports collaborative and interdisciplinary research circles involving ICGC faculty and students. Our longest running research circle on “Subjects, Objects, Agents: Young People’s Lives and Livelihoods in the Global South,” started in 2013 under the leadership of three ICGC affiliated faculty: Deborah Levison (Humphrey School of Public Affairs), MJ Maynes (Department of History), and Frances Vavrus (Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development).
These facilitators are editors of a new book published by Palgrave Macmillan that includes contributions from members of the research circle and collaborating scholars. The volume is entitled Children and Youth as Subjects, Objects, Agents: Innovative Approaches to Research Across Space and Time. This book showcases innovative approaches to the interdisciplinary field of childhood and youth studies, examining how young people in a wide range of contemporary and historical contexts around the globe live their young lives as subjects, objects, and agents. It will be of interest to students and scholars across a range of disciplines, including childhood studies, youth studies, girls’ studies, development studies, research methods, sociology, anthropology, education, history, geography, public policy, cultural studies, gender and women’s studies and global studies.
