Maringanti's career has been a transformative journey driven by a persistent desire to address the injustices that persist within our urban landscapes. Starting as an engineer, he transitioned through industrial design and visual communication, participatory research in Eastern Madhya Pradesh, journalism, activism, and ultimately earned a PhD in Geography from the University of Minnesota.
As the Founder and Director of Hyderabad Urban Lab (HUL), he lead an interdisciplinary team dedicated to tackling complex urban challenges in the Global South. His work merges theoretical research with practical action, empowering marginalized communities and influencing urban policy. He's deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of scholars, promoting geographical thinking, and fostering collaborations that bridge academia and real-world impact.
His motivation stems from the recognition that injustice lurks in many forms—social inequality, environmental degradation, and the marginalization of vulnerable communities. Through HUL and now ICGC, he strives to create pathways for more equitable and sustainable urban futures.
