ICGC joins with community both on and off campus in mourning the passing of University of Minnesota professor Rachel Schurman. Rachel was an ICGC faculty affiliate since 2005, joining us just a year after beginning her tenure as faculty in the Departments of Sociology and Global Studies and remaining an affiliate for nearly the next two decades. She served a vital role with us on various committees, teaching courses in the Development Studies and Social Change graduate minor and advising many ICGC scholars through their doctoral programs. Rachel enriched our community with her energy, knowledge, and fantastic smile, and we will all miss her dearly. Please see the Department of Sociology's message here which includes Rachel's obituary.
