Fellowships & Student Funding

ICGC’s core mission involves intellectual and financial support for an interdisciplinary and academically talented group of graduate and professional students. We offer financial support through the following programs:

ICGC Fellowships

Our main fellowship program has supported annual cohorts of graduate students for 30 years through the ICGC Scholar Fellowship, the ICGC Mellon Scholar Fellowship, the Global Food Security Fellowship which supported students from 2014-2019, and the Joseph E. Schwartzberg Fellowship added in 2015.

Small Grants for Current Scholars

ICGC offers small Pre-Dissertation Grants, International Internship Grants, and Conference Travel Grants for ICGC Scholars and for students enrolled in the Development Studies and Social Change (DSSC) graduate minor program.

Summer Fellowship for CLA Students Affiliated with ICGC

ICGC provides fellowship support for CLA students affiliated with ICGC.  The Joseph E. Schwartzberg Workable World Trust Fellowships supports outstanding students who are clearly committed to global governance.  Eligibility for these summer awards is limited to students already affiliated with ICGC (ICGC Scholars, ICGC Mellon Scholars and DSSC minor program students) and enrolled in CLA graduate programs.

Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellowships

ICGC supports one or more Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellows each year in residence at the Center.
