Abstract: While conducting research on the transformation of Bengaluru, India into a global city, I observed that the new volatility city dwellers experienced there was similar to experiences in the U.S., Spain, and beyond.  My research on city life shifted to research on the life of finance and its embeddedness in city life.  The talk will highlight the strategies and analytics I developed to study finance capital as it weaved in and out of cities as well as tax havens like the Cayman Islands and housing markets like in Minneapolis.  It’s a talk on the theory-methods-politics nexus.
