About the Speaker

Jules is a doctoral candidate and research fellow at the Interdisciplinary Center for Global Change at the University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on the impacts of gendered social movements on public policy in Ecuador. Jules earned her Master’s of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati. Her MA thesis focused on how the political Left Turn in Ecuador impacted state responses to violence. Jules graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Cincinnati. Before joining the Humphrey School, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay and worked as an advocate for survivors of gender-based violence in the US and Ecuador for over ten years.

The Interdisciplinary Research Colloquium series offers informal lectures and discussions on current research projects by ICGC Scholars, affiliated faculty, visiting scholars, and practitioners. These events are open to the public. Guests are welcome to bring their lunches and eat during the sessions.
