Abstract: Is it possible to talk about relations between Black Cinema and Social Activism? This question will guide this presentation, since this study seeks to investigate and to analyze the presence and activism of Black filmmakers through cinema. In this space-time I will present some consequences of the racism in Brazil; the possibilities of the parallel between Black Cinema in Brazil and in the United States; some Black Cinema's actions “inside and outside the screens” in Brazil; and the importance to discuss themes as racism, white privilege, representation, memory, identity, and empowerment through this concept of cinema.
