ICGC Welcomes Visiting Teaching Faculty

ICGC is delighted to welcome back Dr. Asli Calkivik, an ICGC alumnus from the Department of Political Science, as teaching faculty for the 2016-17 academic year.

Asli received her PhD in Political Science at the University of Minnesota in 2010. Currently she is an assistant professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Technical University. Working on the intersection of political theory and international relations, in her research, Asli probes into questions pertaining to international security, war and violence in social and political thought, politics of time, post-colonial and post-structural perspectives on global politics. 

Dr. Calkivik will be teaching the Development Studies & Social Change (DSSC) minor introductory course, Ways of Knowing, this Fall, as well as an undergraduate course with the Department of Political Science. UMN affiliates can see her latest work through our libraries: published in the journal International Politics, July 2016, Volume 53, Issue 4, pp 505-518 on "Revisiting the violence of Machiavelli".
