‘Interruptions: Posters from the Community Arts Project’
constitutes a narrative about resistance to apartheid of
various parts, with thematic focuses ranging from cultural
initiatives to political imprisonments, civic resistance,
liberation movement icons and the role of women in the
struggle; and from flashpoints in history such as the 1976
uprising, children under apartheid and military insurgency
to the international campaign against apartheid. The
selection for the exhibition is drawn from the Community
Arts Project (CAP) Collection, housed at the University of
the Western Cape (UWC) – Robben Island Mayibuye
Archives.
